A reflection of my english learning!

Introduction

Hello…today at the end of the blog’s process, I have to write my last blog about all my experience learning english at the university how a general reflection. About this, I can say that the english for me is very difficult and all my life at school this was the most difficult subject. As well as I think that the english is not very usefull for my future, because in my career, the english in the kindergarden is absent and I don’t like to work in an english private school or in a particular kinder garden where maybe the english will be a subject for children.

Body

However, the english at these days is so important in the world because we are in the globalization and the communications age, and about this, is so necessary for a lot of people to know speak and understand the english for the relations with foreign people. But in my opinion is not very usseful for my future to know english. About this, I think that is important that a program of english must be for just one career in special, because is essential that the course teach the english in the context that is incumbent for us in our studies and career, because the only things that maybe will be useful about english in the future, are about the education at kindergarden and schools, the children and their learning process, and just this.

About this, I can say that the first course of english that I took in the University (level 2), whas very mediocre, because we was all students of education, but the classes was very unfit, because that was very easy but we didn’t learn nothing. At the second course that I take here (level 3) was horrible, because all the course students was of different careers and all us had different levels of english knowledge; all this because all the people or the majority os the students of another careers that are not “Education” come from private schools with good english or of families with more knowledge about this, and this put us in disadvantage; and for this, the teacher never gave us the necessary support to understand a lot of things, topics, etc. in her classes. As well us, she was very unjust, because she has a good relation with some students and about this, she gave advantage or best marks for their; about this, we only learn something with the Blogs that we had to make, but in her classes we never learn nothing and we had a lot of bad moments with her classes with her discriminations and differences.

At the end of the english learning process, I can say that only just we have good english classes where we have classmates of the same career with the same level of us and where we can feel welcome with the teacher. I think that maybe, is so late to think that I can learn a perfect english, but I think that with our teacher of the level 4, we can speak the english without embarrassment with all our classmates, we can revise our mistakes in the homeworks or ask all that we don’t understand in the class. For my opinion, this level of english is the only where we can learn something or check somethings that we was wrong. And all this have relation with the motivation that we have about the charisma and support of the teacher, that is the most important for learn something.

Conclusion

For the end, I can say that in general, I don’t learn a lot of english in the University about all the things that I said before; but I think that is a good experience for me and my friends and classmates, to finish the english levels with the only good experience of this, with the only good teacher of english that we had and where we can felt more welcome thant in the previous courses. Finishing, I can say that is the unique time in my life that I can say that english is one of my favorite subjects.

My only favorite Book!

The only book that I liked in my life was “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone” (the first book of all the literary series), writed by the british author named J.K. Rowling.

This book tells the story of an orphan little boy that was raised by his uncle named Bernon Dursley, his aunt and his cousin Dudley (a spoiled and unbearable boy); that hates him. Harry discover in his eleventh birthday that he is a wizard, because Hagrid the guardian of “Howard” (a school of magic) arrive to the house and tells to Harry about his fabulous reality.

For Harry, is very difficult to believe that he and his died parents (James and Lily Potter) are wizards; but then he start to believe because he knows another wizards in the “Diagon Alley”, then in the railroad, and finally in the Howard School. During the story, Harry makes a lot of friends how are Neville Longbottom (a fat and shy boy), Ronald Weasley (his read-haired best friend), Hermione Granger (his beautiful and inteligent best friend), Rubeus Hagrid (a giant man, keys guardian of Howard), Albus Dumbledore (the head teacher of the Howard School and the best wizard of the Magic world), and another people how the McGonagall teacher, etc.; but he doesn’t make just friends. Harry has a lot of enemies how are Draco Malfoy (a very bad blonde boy), the Snape teacher (the potions teacher and the head of the Slytherin house), the dark-arts teacher named Quirrell (the assistant of Lord Voldemort), and finally the most dangerous and powerful enemy of Potter, Lord Voldemort (the most dark and bad wizard in the world, how killed to Lily and James Potter).

All the time Harry with his two best friends achieve to defeat the evil and the problems, but they are all the time playing a leading role at all the events in the film.

This is a very good book, how is the film to; but is true that this book has a lot of details that the film never shows to us. If you love the adventures stories and you never read that book, you have to do that now!

The nature and the environment for me...

In general, the people don’t make a lot of things to take care the environment; they know about the practices and habits for a good support of the nature but they don’t have the mentality to value all the natural things that we have around of us.

Sometimes, the schools and some ecological organizations make campaigns to achieve a most friendly attitude of the people for the environment and for the nature, animals, flowers-trees and plants, the water, the hills and the dirt; but is not a lot of people that take care the environment…. And I don’t know what is the reason; maybe is the habit, or the little social aware about the danger that makes the contamination in the earth. Sometimes the kindergardens and the first grades of education in the school, achieve that the little children care and love the nature, and in general in our society; the old people is more attached to the environment and the natural spaces because they grew in a world without technology and gray spaces; and all we know that the majority of the grandmothers love so much the plants and the gardening.

I can say that in my life I never take care so much the environment, I don’t recycle things, and I never participated in eco-organizations, etc. I like so much the plants and the animals because are very beautiful, and sometimes I try to don’t throw the wrappers on the ground, but I accept that the reality is that I don’t have a great conscience to take care the water, the light, and the air contamination, because I never try to ride a bike. I always walk some distance to the bus or to the subway and I don’t use a car but I use the collective locomotion.

Well, is true that I like the green spaces, I love so much to go to natural places full of trees and plants and green hills and lakes and rivers and flowers and dirt roads and a lot of wild animals, without gray streets and big buildings and commercial places; but I admit that I never make things to take care the environment but I thnik that one of the reasons is that we grew up in a society that is not interested in the natural things, and where the only thing that is important is the technology and the modernization; where all the efforts that you make for preserve the nature are in vain.

I only can say that I expect that if in Santiago we can’t make anything to preserve the natural places because all or the majority of them are dissapeared, but I expect that all the other places that our country even has, how are some towns, regions, beaches and communes never run to the modernization, because are all that we have yet, with all the nature and the native environment that this was born in the past.

About this, is important to understand that the bedtime in children is very dificult to respect, but is essential to their growing process, because a good bedtime improve their development.

Some studys says that in the four years old, the bedtime at the same time with eleven hours to sleep, is good for children; and the contrary, produces some descents of the regular performance. Some studys makes that the parents have to follow routines like reading books or telling stories to their children, before the sleeptime, trying to achieve an earlier bedtime to get higher scores; and not only for this, because is important too, that the children who sleep later and haven’t routines, has a bad sleepy and a unsatisfactory rest.

Another good thing is that more sleep make a person run faster (example with Stanford University football players) and the sleep is part of an athlete’s training program. Finally, all the adults should try to get seven or eight hours of sleep; teenagers and young adults should sleep for nine hours or more, going to bed and wake up at the same times every day; and taking brief naps during the day to get extra sleep.

One of the best films of the World: SHREK!

About one of my favorite movies, this time I chose the film named “SHREK”. Shrek is a fantastic animated film of adventures where the main character is a big, strong and horrible ogre names Shrek. The plot of the film is centered in the mission of the ogre when he must find the Princess Fiona, accompanied by a little funny talkative donkey named “Burro”. In general I like all the films of Shrek and one of the most interesting things of this movie is that some very famous actors make the voices of the main characters in the movie (Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas and John Lithgow) and this makes a very funny and interesting film.

This film is set in a kind of middle age but in a fantastic and magic context, with castles, princes and kings, armors and swords; where you can find a lot of characters or things like “scenes” belonging to another films, children’s fairy tales, or a lot of jokes about characters of old storys, for example: “caperusita roja”, the three piggies, the two cinderella’s stepsisters, the Disney princess, the story where the toad is converted in a prince, the fairy godmother, the cat with boots, etc.

The adventures of Shrek start with a travell in company of “Burro”, where he must to rescue Princess Fiona of the big castle protected by a big and terrible dragon. The Shrek is in love of the Princess Fiona and they discover that Fiona is an ogre; then she decide to converted definitely in a Ogre girl, she married with Shrek and the Donkey take how his wife the Dragon; and after this first story Shrek and all his friends make a lot of travels and have a lot of interesting adventures in the next films of Shrek.

In the first film of Shrek, the main characters are Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Lord Farcuad; but in the next films you can see that a lot of very interesting characters enter in the scenes.

I think that this films are the best of the world of the animation films, because is not only a funny story; SHREK is a great movie where all is possible, where you can see the dark side of some characters of another movies for example the Princess of Disney; you can understand that the fisical and external beauty is not the real beauty, the real beauty is inside of the people and you can see this in the film because shrek and fiona portray this beauty with Ogre’s faces, and in the other side of the story; the beautiful princess of the fairy stories are bad, selfish and egoncentric.

If you never see Shrek, you are loosing the best moment of the world in your life, because if you see this movie you can have a very great time with your family or friends where you can laugh with the characters, you can cry with some scenes and you can learn with the values and the moral of this beautiful and amusing story.

"The first place to know in Santiago"

I think that one simple place to visit in Santiago, very traditional and so common for a lot of people, because a lot of people work next to this place and this place has a lot of shopping, malls and a lot of commercial stores are there; is the “Paseo Ahumada”.

The Paseo Ahumada is an a pedestrian way where the people can walk, buy a lot of sheep things in the street, go to shopping or cinemas, eat some food in the restaurants and little bars, you can see a lot of street shows where some people sing, tell some jokes, dance (sometimes very funny), recite poems, etc. And if you walk to the “Plaza de Armas” in the Paseo Ahumada, you can see the “Catedral de Santiago” in front of the square and the “Correo Nacional” next to the square, for another side of the square you can find a lot of passage with stores, shopping, restaurants, hairdresser's salon, etc. And in the “Plaza de Armas” you can find a lot of attractions how are the street artists that make paintings, portraits, and some fast funny portrait of the people that you can buy in the moment. In general, in front of the square you can see a lot of people meeting in a big circle surround to a person that make a little show where include to all the spectators and always all the people is laughing.

“Paseo Ahumada” and “Plaza de Armas” is in the Center of Santiago (the Capital of our country), and if you want to get there; you can take the subway to the “Plaza de Armas Station”, then you leave the station going up the stairs and you can walk in the “Paseo Ahumada”. Maybe this is very large and a lot of time is full of people, but is very interesting, is a traditional place in our city, in this place you can see a lot of important events in important dates, and the most important is that place is FREE!!!!, because is just a big street; but is beautiful, and you can value the street art and all that you want to find is there.

I recommend this place so much because is not only a beautiful traditional place of our capital to the tourists; more than this; a lot of Chilean people never see the “Paseo Ahumada” and I think that is very important to know this because is a typical place of Santiago, maybe you never see some things very very old, but you can see people dancing our national dance (“Cueca”) or a lot of art, is interesting and very accessible to all people.
